We are very pleased to welcome Tom to our team. Tom joins us on a placement year from the University of Surrey where he is studying for his BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. His degree mainly focusses on the design, analysis and development, and manufacture of mechanical devices.
Joining the Manufacturing department at Benmor Medical, Tom’s main responsibilities are to work alongside sub-contractors to refine the mechanical design of pre-existing medical bed products, used for the treatment of bariatric patients and vulnerable patients.
He will develop specifications, conduct design, testing products for strength and stability in line with medical device regulations ISO 13485 and IEC 60601. In addition to maintaining the technical drawing system and the preparation of technical documents/reports for incorporation into the technical file.
Tom will work closely with our Mechanical Design Engineer Harry. Throughout his placement year he will work in close contact with internal stakeholders as well as visiting clients, suppliers, and consultants.
We spoke to Tom about what he was most looking forward to whilst working at Benmor Medical:
“I am looking forward to being able to apply my theory from university in a useful and creative way. I hope to gain knowledge to how a company such as Benmor is operated and be a key part of the engineering team. I am looking forward to improving my professional skills in addition to gaining confidence in handling new situations, solving problems, and making decisions.”
We are delighted to have Tom on board and are eager to hear his ideas and see how he incorporates them into his work. We wish him every success during his placement year with us and hope that he can build upon his existing knowledge in preparation for his final year at University.
